For this project, I decided to start my music video in a rather unconventional manner.
To make further expression of the feelings that LowLife Prods desires to transmit to the audience, the first clip of the video doesn’t feature the music, just the sound of the camera zooming in and background noise which adds texture and creates some of the vintage effect previously mentioned in other posts.
The shot consists of various props, on the back line there’s a framed picture of the artist as a child with red candles at the sides. And in the front line there’s medication.
The shot starts with the back line being blurred whilst the focus is on the front line, conveying a sense of mental illness which prepares the audience for the moods and themes of the song. As the camera slowly zooms in, the picture starts to become the focus. Slowly tilting up towards the face of the child in the picture, ultimately creating a backstory/side information towards the 18 y/o actor which in the picture seems happy and triumphant, creating a contrast of how his life changed.
After processing and colour correction using a Kodak imitation filter this is the result of the clip alone.

For lighting purposes, me and my camera assistant used a red t-shirt to cover the light so we could get the right amount of lighting whilst mantaining the warmth of the candles, this method is repeated in other similar shots.
